Danny Sheehy rode an excellent waiting race when delivering the Johnny Murtagh trained Rahmi from off the pace to win the Oktoberfest Weekend Handicap at Naas.
Third in a small field at Gowran Park last time, the 15/2 chance was much better suited to the faster pace of this competitive handicap.
Last of the 14 runners early in the straight, Sheehy arrived full of running to challenge leader Orandi over a furlong out.
Quickening clear of the rival inside the final furlong, Rahmi went on to win by an easy two-and-a-half lengths.
Johnny Murtagh said: “He’s a horse that always shows plenty at home and is always competitive in those big handicaps.
“He’s probably getting put up that couple of pounds all the time. He was near a career high mark and it was going to be tough for him to win.
“He has that ability and when things fall right for him he’s always capable of doing that.
“He goes very well for Danny, and he timed it nicely today. I think that will probably be it for the year.”
