The Paul Flynn-trained Milan Forth ran out a convincing winner of the Rathronan Maiden Hunters Chase at Clonmel on his racecourse bow.

Kevin Healy gave the Milan gelding a confident ride, producing the 9/2 shot to lead turning for home.

He asked his mount to assert down to the second last and despite getting under the final fence they went on to post a three-and-a-quarter length win over Magic Sadler

There was drama at the second last with Lonesome Boatman taking a heavy fall and bringing down Keeptheoldmanout Thankfully horses and riders were fine afterwards.

The winner was making his first start for Flynn having won three point-to-points for Simon Cavanagh.

Healy said:- “He’s a good horse and probably two-and-a-half miles is his trip. He was quite keen and free there today, but his jumping was a lot slicker than before.

“My grandad (Patrick Whyte) owns him and I’m very lucky to get to ride him in my first year.

“That’s my fifth winner. I’ve ridden two on the track and three in point-to-points.”

Healy’s other ‘track’ winner came on Wrecking Ball Paul on the Flat at Dundalk last March.
