The market for the opening race of the evening at Limerick, the Irish Mirror Maiden, suggested it would be a two horse race, however the Charlie Swan trained newcomer Roman Flight had other ideas, as he stayed on best, to win by half a length at the line.

He won't be hitting the front as soon the next time! I told Ruby to go on if he was happy to but he looks a real brat. He never shows any tendency like that at home, although he did try to run out at Roscommon last year. I thought the line would never come! He'll go next for either a winners-of-one or a handicap.

He is a nice horse, who had been working quite well at home, but he hadn't been working on grass. I told the owners that I hoped he would be in the first three, so it was a nice surprise that he won it. I have no plans for him now. The owners (Favourites Racing Syndicate) are big owners in the UK and this is their first horse with me.
