I know he was disappointing the last day but he put it right today. He jumped well and is still learning and could be on an upward curve. He won nicely on soft ground at Listowel and maybe it was a bit soon for him at Tipperary after Listowel but he has come back here on a nice galloping track and has put it right; winning will bring him on confidence-wise. It's good for the owners and good for me to ride a winner for Willie and Ruby (Walsh) and Paul (Townend) were a great help. I rode a winner for Willie but it's been so long now that I can't remember it!

We had planned in running in him in the bumper tomorrow but we're running another two mares instead and we let him take his chance today. I thought he was a decent horse but that performance looked very very good. He pulled too hard early on and Paul did his best to settle him and then when he was in front he got a little breather into him. When he turned for home he gave him a squeeze and he opened up and he looks like a really nice staying hurdler in the making.

He made hard work of it but did it nicely in the end. He’s a horse that will go novice hurdling now and stay going for the winter. The horses were in great form all week and the jockeys were all riding fantastic as well. I’m delighted the way the whole week turned out, and my staff have been excellent all week. Sharjah would have to be the highlight (in the Galway Hurdle) but Riven Light also has to come in there as well. I’m delighted also to have Ruby back in winning form too. We’re lucky to have such good owners behind the yard and without them we wouldn’t be able to have festivals like this.

I'd said he liked the better ground and he settled much better today and we dropped him in. He was very keen on his last two runs.
