Permission was given for Love Dreams (IRE) to wear a red hood in the Parade ring only, to go early to the start and be mounted in the chute.
David Probert the rider of Love Dreams (IRE), drawn 3, appeared to be slightly slow to remove the blindfold, but having viewed a recording of the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Probert missed his first attempt to remove the blindfold but got it on the second attempt as the horses left the stalls, and being satisfied his horse jumped on terms with the other runners, no further action was taken.
Approaching 2 furlongs out Raising Sand (GB), placed third, edged right-handed at the same time as the winner Fantasy Believer (IRE) edged left-handed resulting in The Rain King (IRE), unplaced, to have to take a slight check.
However, after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and had not improved the placings of either Raising Sand (GB) or Fantasy Believer (IRE).
Saffie Osborne, the rider of Raising Sand (GB), placed third, was suspended for 2 days for using her whip above the permitted level from 1 ½ furlongs out.
The performance of Bearaway (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The Stewards noted that the representative of Hughie Morrison could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination during routine testing of Bearaway (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
