An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference on the run to the line, involving the winner, KING’S THRESHOLD (IRE), ridden by Ben Jones and Hystery Bere (FR), placed second, ridden by Jordan Nailor.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved KING THRESHOLD (IRE)’s placing as, having jumped the last upsides Hystery Bere (FR), Jones’ mount was quicker away from the last and appeared to be travelling better than Hystery Bere (FR) and the Stewards couldn’t be satisfied that had Hystery Bere (FR) had an uninterrupted run to the line it would have finished in front of KING’S THRESHOLD (IRE), with the distance between the runners a length and a quarter at the finish and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Jones was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to hang right-handed without sufficient correction, taking Hystery Bere (FR) off its intended line and causing Nailor to switch left-handed to continue his run.
Following the race, Kielan Woods reported that Kaituna River (IRE), placed fourth, was never travelling.
