We are just having a fantastic time of it and to win that race is very special,. I won it previously in 1999 when today’s clerk of the course Paul Moloney rode Kaselectric to win at Cork (with Limerick being developed), but that was a good while ago, so we were due another!

The Raceday Stewards granted a request from Matthew J Smith, trainer of Another Choice, for an additional ten minutes to present his charge for identification by an IHRB Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90(i) The Raceday Stewards requested a report from E. McNamara, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Real Steel (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent form. E. McNamara stated that the blinkers and suitable ground coupled with a change in tactics had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given
J. W. Kennedy, rider of The Goffer, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Another Choice, trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a bad mistake at the second last.
