An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching the final fence involving the winner, Red Infantry (IRE), ridden by Charlie Todd and Special Prep (IRE), placed second, ridden by Jack Tudor.
The interference was found to be accidental as Red Infantry (IRE) lugged quickly right shifting Special Prep (IRE) marginally off its intended line.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Red Infantry (IRE)’s placing as Special Prep (IRE) lost no momentum jumping the final fence and was being held at the line to be beaten by a head.
Charlie Todd, the rider of the winner, Red Infantry (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from the fourth last fence.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Beware The Bear (IRE), unplaced, lost its right fore shoe.
