Jack Quinlan, the rider of the winner, Potters Hedger (GB), was suspended for 4 days for using his whip above the permitted level from after the third last hurdle.
Tom Scudamore, the rider of Farrants Way (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 7 days for using his whip above the permitted level from after the third last hurdle.
The winner, Potters Hedger (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Sandown on 4 December 2020, where the gelding finished ninth of ten, beaten by 135 lengths.
The explanation from the representative of Lucy Wadham that Potters Hedger (GB) had benefited from the first time application of a visor, and was suited by the drop in grade to a Class 3 was noted.

Nicky Henderson could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than Nico de Boinville reported that the gelding stopped quickly.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Hijack (IRE) failed to reveal any abnormalities.
