A query was raised to consider why James Tate was running Ocean Wave (GB) here at Haydock Park on going described as Good to Firm, having declared the filly a non-runner at Great Yarmouth on 7 July 2021 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that with Good to Soft appearing in the going description yesterday they were hopeful there would still be some moisture in the ground and were therefore happy for Ocean Wave (GB) to take its chance on this occasion.
Following the race, Pat Cosgrave reported that Crocus (IRE), unplaced, was restless in the stalls and slowly away and Frankie Dettori reported that Gal Wonder (GB), which started favourite and finished fourth, ran flat.
