Approaching the 2 furlong marker, after initially hanging right-handed off the rail, Halwa Azyan (IRE), placed third, then had to be shifted further right-handed by its rider to avoid the heels of a weakening The Pretty Way (GB), placed seventh, giving a significant bump to Don't Tell Dj (IRE), placed fourth, which in turn made contact with Fact Or Fable (IRE), placed eighth, causing all three runners to become unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Halwa Azyan (IRE).
The performance of The Pretty Way (GB), which started co-favourite and finished seventh, was considered.
David Evans explained that, in his opinion, the filly had ran too freely on this occasion and that the race may also have come too soon for The Pretty Way (GB), following its previous win at Wolverhampton 9 days earlier.
His explanation was noted.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of The Pretty Way (GB), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Halwa Azyan (IRE), placed third, lost its left-fore shoe.
