Approximately 1 furlong out, Billy Loughnane, the rider of Fiftyshadesofred (FR), unplaced, struck Mighty Power (IRE), unplaced, once across the nose with the whip, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was considered to be accidental.
The performance of Gobi Sunset (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Charlie Johnston could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Gobi Sunset (GB), during routine testing, revealed the gelding to be coughing.
Following the race, David Allan reported that Perfect Swiss (GB), placed fifth, reared as the stalls opened and Tom Eaves reported that Ron O (GB), which started second-favourite and finished unplaced, was continually denied a clear run from approximately 3 furlongs out.
