Cresswell Queen (GB) (IRE) wore earplugs.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Orient Sunset (GB), ridden by Derek Fox, which appeared to be tenderly handled in the home straight to finish seventh, beaten 29½ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated his instructions were to get Orient Sunset (GB) settled as the mare has raced keenly in the past.
He added that Orient Sunset (GB) pulled hard early and jumped novicey throughout, a fact which he reported at scales.
He further added that the mare felt as though she was flat out at the end back straight on the final circuit, and stayed on only at the one pace passing tired horses on the run in.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, Thomas Dowson reported that Cresswell Queen (GB), unplaced, ran too free and Tom Bellamy reported that Lady Chuffnell (IRE), unplaced, ran too free.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Something Rosie (IRE), unplaced, had bled from the nose.
