An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line, involving the winner, Sir Chauvelin (GB), ridden by David Egan and Evaluation (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Joe Fanning.
Egan was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to shift right-handed, when insufficiently clear of Evaluation (GB), which resulted in Fanning having to take a slight check.
The winner, Sir Chauvelin (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 17 October where the gelding finished eleventh of twelve runners, beaten by 11½ lengths.
Jim Goldie’s representative’s explanation that Sir Chauvelin (GB) was suited by the even gallop, that was maintained throughout the race, was noted.
