Above The Curve looks well above average
We think a lot of her. She had a really good run last year and she obviously has an amazing pedigree,. We couldn't ask for more, we'll see where we go now but we think she's an Oaks-type filly. She's a very big filly so we'll be managing her gently, maybe something like the Blue Wind would suit. We won't be throwing her in at the deep end, we'll take baby steps with her. She really is huge, in a way she's nearly too big and we'll have to manage her correctly. She hasn't done anything wrong so far anyway. I don't think she will an Epsom filly - she probably could be but I think we will look at the Curragh maybe with her but it is early days to be targeting that.
Boundless Ocean delivers under Manning
Moracana finishes off strongly to score
I thought she was well handicapped but I was a bit worried about the draw and all the family want a bit of a dig in the ground. What an attitude she has and what a ride. She was a touch keen early on with Robbie and is still a bit green. The owner bought her for Galway but I said to her that I'm not sure she'd be a Galway type of horse.
Twomey maps out plans for Pearls Galore
I picked the race out a good while ago but I thought the ground would be softer. My owner was less keen than me to run but I liked the idea of running in a prep race like this. I had to convince my owner that it was a good idea. I called for her to stay in training, they wanted to retire her, and the aim is to win a Group 1. I have her in the Lockinge but I doubt she'll go there. She's not a Group 2 winner yet and the Ridgewood Pearl Stakes at the Curragh and the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot are likely options but she is in the Lockinge and I wouldn't rule it out. Then obviously we'll look at fillies races and I'd say the owner would like to go back to America with her eventually. I'd say she'd suit America. She was just ready to run today and it's just wherever she takes us now. She's not very big so she won't take lots of racing but she's a five-year-old so she'll take more than she has before. She's run on firm and heavy and it's been the same result so I'd say she's more versatile than I thought she was.
Lullaby leads home O'Brien one-two
It was grand that she won, we liked her last year and she has a high enough rating,. We were delighted with her and she'll come back here for the Guineas trial over a mile. I'm delighted with the second filly, she ran a lovely race and won't mind stepping up whenever. She was a bit green down the inside but ran a lovely race too. We'll give her a little bit of time, we won't rush her, and she'll go back for a maiden. She could be an Irish Oaks filly, when she goes up to that trip she'll be very happy.
Mutasarref begins life with Lyons in good style
That was grand and he did what he's been doing at home. We liked him and Eleanora (Kennedy, owner) flew in for the day so it's nice to win with him when she's here. He's a nice horse and I thought he was well handicapped to win that. There is maybe another day in him as long as the handicapper doesn't go bananas. He's a fun horse to have. Colin said he's not the horse he rode last year, he's twice the size.
Company Keeping takes honours for McConnell
He deserved that. Obviously he has no problem with turf and he got a lovely ride from Declan. He was still a little bit green so hopefully there is a bit more to come from him. He's tough, genuine and this has been the plan for a good few weeks so we delighted to get it on the day.
McConnell soars to double with New Moon Rising
She's obviously a turf filly. We bought her at the breeding sales, she was reasonably priced at €9,000,. I had only Dundalk to play with over the winter. I didn't think she liked the all-weather and she was a different filly there today, she had run well here before. Cillian gave her a peach from the front, kicked on. She was good and stayed on well. Hopefully after getting her head in front there is a bit of progression in her now but she has her winning bracket now. It's my first horse for the owners (Vamwell Limited) and I'm delighted for them. The second ran a cracker as well.
