he has always looked a chaser and won his point to point well. However he was a bit disappointing over hurdles but Andrew (Lynch) said he jumped well and loves that soft ground. He will make a nice horse for the winter.
Leon Og causes 20/1 upset
he ran well at Thurles the last day and I'd say it rode like a good race then - they went a good gallop and was staying on well over the 2m6f. However today I thought he wouldn't have any chance in such a competitive race. it's amazing the difference fences can make to a horse - chasing must have improved Leon Og a stone. He is owned by the Horsplay Syndicate from Lisburn, near Down Royal racecourse.
Aughnacurraveel overturns Lieutenant
I'm delighted with that and being there to see it too makes it more special! He improved a lot since his Tramore win and, having won two point to points, one on barely raceable ground, we knew he'd handle today's going. We may go to Navan in a few weeks time for a Grade 2 novice hurdle.
