An enquiry was held to consider whether Silvestre De Sousa, the rider of King Of Tomorrow (GB), placed second, had continued in the race when his horse appeared to have gone lame in the home straight.
The rider and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed and recordings of the incident were viewed.
The Veterinary Officer stated that a post-race examination revealed that King Of Tomorrow (GB) was lame behind.
De Sousa explained that he felt the gelding lose its action behind and attempted to pull up over a distance of approximately half a furlong, at which point De Sousa felt King Of Tomorrow (GB) regained its action and appeared sound, therefore he allowed the gelding to complete the race.
His explanation was noted.
