An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong when the winner, Metric (GB), ridden by Mark Winn interfered with Star Start (IRE), placed second, ridden by Alistair Rawlinson.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Metric (GB)’s placing as, although Winn allowed his mount to drift right-handed, the momentum lost by Star Start (IRE) was minimal and Metric (GB) was going away to win by ½ a length at the line, therefore the Stewards ordered that the placings remain unaltered.
Winn was cautioned for careless riding as he was slow to correct his mount from drifting right-handed, moving Star Start (IRE) off its intended line, resulting in the gelding becoming momentarily unbalanced.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Walk The Moon (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
