'Little bullet' wins Naas opener
we've decided to go the same route as Ainippe with her and as winners' races are few and far between, the Group 3 Curragh Stakes (August 22nd) is the next obvious race. We'll keep to the same route as Ainippe and won't over-faze her this year although I'm not saying she'll go to England like Ainippe. She's not over-big but shows plenty of speed and is very professional - she's a little bullet.
Laganore wins Naas maiden for Martin/Berry
she has always showed us she was nice and had a lovely run here the first day and built on it. We'll see how she is in the morning and see if we can find something for her in a couple of weeks. I thought this was a better option than Galway (next week) with a three-year-old going up and down hills, and it worked out lovely.
Seventh career win for Burren View Lady
Red Letter day for O'Callaghan
that's great and it's nice to have a bit of lucky for them lads (Pearl Bloodstock)!. Pat gave her a great ride; he said it was too slow for her and he had to go and go for it. He said the better the race the better she'll be as she has lots and lots of speed. When the other filly (Byzantium) came she battled again and toughed it out. We've always thought she was a nice filly, she's big and being by Azamour she should keep improving. She's after having a few races now and we'll make all the entries but might give her a few easy weeks.
Bargain buy Regal Power wins again
that's great as he wasn't getting much credit. I always said he wanted a mile as he has no gears - he comes from behind and plugs on. Over six and seven he's been doing his best at the finish. He's in tomorrow (at Leopardstown) and if he's okay he'll go.
Kings Ryker wins under enterprising ride
there wasn't any obvious pace and we wanted to sit handy and he had a good draw so I said to Shane to jump out and make up his own mind. He had some good runs but was struggling with the handicap for a long time. He's straight-forward, tries hard and deserves it. It's nice to win one for this man (Eric Koh). He's Singapore based and I'd say this horse will end up in Singapore.
Hat-trick for Wolfe as Lyons doubles up
he's going the right way. Colin said since he got his head in front at Dundalk he hasn't looked back and he's matured into a lovely horse. There wasn't much of a gallop and it suited him as he loves to hunt one down (headed runner-up Seanie close home). We'll see what the handicapper does - I don't know if a Listed race is beyond him but fast ground is his forte and we'll have a look at it. It's nice to win three with one in Ireland.
