Permission was given for Diamond Joel (GB) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post and for Agent Saonois (FR) to wear a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider interference at the second-last hurdle involving the winner, Agent Saonois (FR), ridden by Miss Thomasina Eyston, Diamond Joel (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Tabitha Worsley, and Lively Livvy (GB), which unseated, ridden by Tom Midgley.
Being a 7Ib Claiming Conditional, Eyston was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry, but declined.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Agent Saonois (FR) veered sharply left-handed without much prior warning in the final strides approaching the second-last hurdle and jumped across Diamond Joel (GB), causing Worsley to take a check and in making contact with that runner Agent Saonois (FR) itself became badly unbalanced after losing its backend, which caused it to shift further left-handed into the path of Lively Livvy (GB), which clipped its heels and unseated Midgley.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Time Leader (IRE), which started second- favourite and finished third, lost its right-fore shoe.
