Keep In Touch another Galway success for Weld
She might have been a trifle unlucky here in July when the problem was she was drawn so wide. She learned from that and the ground is probably as slow as she likes. She knew her job, did it well and we'll look for black-type now. She's a lovely filly and will appreciate better ground.
Red-letter day for Hourigan as Pimstrel scores
That is great to get and I have the licence since last September. I have three or four Flat horses and am tipping away with them. It's good and I'm enjoying it. I know nothing else and it is great to have the place at home. I am in the bottom yard at home as we separate the Flat horses, and I've just started with the Flat at the moment. They all say it is hard work, but I do enjoy it. my brother Mark picked her (Pimstrel) out in a claimer at Laytown. It didn't happen for Dundalk with her, I put her away and she came back out of the field a different mare. The ground was slightly too good for her in Gowran, but she wears her heart on her sleeve. We like Listowel, so I wouldn't complain about having a winner there!. It is great to have days like this but we are thinking of Henry De Bromhead and his family as well.
Big autumn campaign pending for tough Yaxeni
She is a lion on that ground and it was either come here or race at the weekend (Champions Weekend). We had to separate herself and Thunder Kiss but, with the forecast, it was too much to leave nothing to run here - she grows another leg on this ground. As soon as Colin asked her to go, he had them all under pressure and in a second she turns a race over, on this ground. She could run in the Cesarewitch and her ultimate aim is having one big throw of the dice at Ascot, for the Group 1 fillies' and mares' race in October, if it comes up heavy. We have trained her for this autumn campaign. she can get very fresh and Martin Mooney, who rides her at home, has kept her very sweet and has done a masterful job with her so fair play to him. The owners have been very patient, have trusted us to do what we do and she'll go to stud next year.
Gonetomillgrove and McAteer a winning combination
Her (half) sister Merroir was fifth in the Listed race earlier today and it is nice to get the winning bracket. Everything was right, we had our conditions, she liked the track and Luke was excellent on her and set really good fractions on her. She came up the hill good and strong, so happy days. It was great to see the heavens open recently and we'll make hay which the sun shines, so to speak. Hopefully she can improve for that and we are looking towards this autumn campaign with her.
Weld and Hayes double up with Sidiriya
That's a nice double and we had a filly placed in the Stakes race as well (Azallya runner-up in Listed contest), which was important. She did it nicely, is a big mare and has got a nice future. She is still raw so I would hope for plenty improvement and I'd expect her to get black-type later in the year, in one of those 1m4f Listed races at Naas. I'll be encouraging connections to consider running her a four-year-old. She is filling into her big frame, stays really good, battles well and got a very good ride.
