It has definitely paid to be on the pace in Galway this evening and Gonetomillgrove was another horse to make all in the apprentice handicap.
She definitely didn't go unbacked (201/ - 14/1) and Luke McAteer got her away well from stall 17 in this extended 12 furlong race.
The Camacho filly cranked up the pressure as she asserted a furlong and a half down and put her rivals to the sword in the final furlong in taking the honours by two and a quarter lengths at 14/1. Komedy Kicks tried to go with the winner two furlongs out, but could make no impression in the straight and had to settle for second at 8/1. Sequioaspirit (13/2) and The Truant (3/1f) took third and fourth respectively.
Trainer Jack Davison said: "Her (half) sister Merroir was fifth in the Listed race earlier today and it is nice to get the winning bracket.
"Everything was right, we had our conditions, she liked the track and Luke was excellent on her and set really good fractions on her. She came up the hill good and strong, so happy days.
"It was great to see the heavens open recently and we'll make hay which the sun shines, so to speak. Hopefully she can improve for that and we are looking towards this autumn campaign with her."
