The Veterinary Officer reported that The Sting (IRE), and IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (IRE), trained by Micky Hammond, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance around the mouth.
Micky Hammond’s representative, groom, the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
As the Stewards could not be satisfied that The Sting (IRE), and IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (IRE) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of the race, they withdrew The Sting (IRE), and IT’S ALL ABOUT ME (IRE) and ordered the gelding and mare to be routine tested.
They referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Gillian Boanas reported that Loch Linnhe (GB), placed third, was unsuited by the going which was good, good to firm in places and would prefer a slower surface.
