Na Caith Tobac fires under Foley
He has been knocking on the door. I like using Luke (Dempsey) but we thought we needed to claim off of him to get over the line. That young lad is great value for his claim and he rode very cool and didn't panic at any stage. I was begging him to kick on but I'm glad he didn't, he did the right thing - I just wanted him to win! . He will come back here next month for the four-year-old only handicap hurdle, that's kind of been his aim all year. Hopefully the handicapper won't be too hard on him now.
The Dara Man another for Fitzgerald
He is a smashing horse and did the talking on the track. He will go for a novice hurdle now and I'll probably keep him for Listowel. You can't send them all to Galway!. I have a lot of good horses at the moment, a bundle of real proper ones. I couldn't believe his price this morning, I thought he would be 1/2!
Union Park rewards Rothwell's initiative
I'm delighted to have a winner for the Barden family- they are the most supportive owners anyone could possibly have, they are amazing. Oscar Romero won for them at the start of the season as well. I thought this guy was unlucky at Punchestown. They went very slow and he was the only horse from far back to get into it. I asked Darragh O'Keeffe, who is suspended today, should we hold on to him again and he said to ride him the same way. There was a little bit more pace today and he won very well. We will see how he comes out of this but I know Oliver would love a runner in Galway. He is entered in a few of the handicaps there, but it might come a bit soon after today because of the weather. I left home at 8pm yesterday evening and I got here after midnight to try avoid travelling in the heat. I thought I was coming here with chances but I was a bit disappointed with the filly in the first. I'm delighted that this lad has made up for it now. We've made a lot of effort to keep them out of the heat and they've drank well since they got here. The track were hugely accommodating.
Ryan doubles up with The Little Yank
He deserved that. For a horse that won two bumpers it took him a long time to win over hurdles. He had ulcers and my daughter Gillian did serious work with him. I also want to thank the physio and everyone else who helped with him. We just needed to sort out his problems and we've done that now. Gillian also did loads of work with The Dara Man as well.
Oscer Romero gives Rothwell his brace
It's smashing to have a double for the Bardens. They are two lovely horses and appreciated the nicer ground. Things just worked out for them both. They went a nice gallop in front of them and the races suited. The lads gave them two very good rides.
Hayes surfs Mullaghmore Wave all way home
I think she was probably flattered. The first-time cheekpieces and the better ground helped. She had form on good ground in point-to-points. I bought her from the point-to-points, I just liked the way she ran and she was plenty green. She is a nice mare that will jump a fence in time. Hopefully the handicapper is not too hard on her. We will see what he does but we might end up in Galway yet. She got balloted this morning for Limerick on Thursday, she missed out by two or something. It was the only race I could try and get her into. It's nice to get the win today anyway.
Peregrine Run's relative takes flight in Ballinrobe
Cullen aiming high with Lispendense
I'm delighted with that. He is a horse I've always thought an awful lot of but things just didn't fall right for him. I fancied him going to Leopardstown even though it was a winners' bumper. Johnny Barry gave him a super ride there to finish third behind two smart horses.
