President on the mark in Killarney opener
.She ran well on debut at the Curragh but loves a bit of cut and we were hoping for some Kerry drizzle today and she appreciated it!.
Vitally Important wins for Oliver/Hayes
we were expecting a big run from him the last day at the Curragh but I had no explanation why he ran so badly. He may have had a look around and we were more positive today and Chris gave him a super ride. I thought the turning track would help and we'll see what the handicapper does now but he does have handicap options.
Vegas strikes for Kelly
She was very unlucky at Limerick two runs ago when things didn't go to plan but she learned a lot and met a well handicapped horse of J.P. (McManus') at Tipperary the last day,. She is a big mare, 17.1 hands on the stick and is still only a baby and was very green in front. She is a very smart jumper and we'll go to Galway next before possibly going to Roscommon (for the first three year old hurdle).
Noretta grabs runaway Bike
She ran really well on her first run back this year but then completely boiled over at Leopardstown,. She is a good staying filly but I was surprised she handled the ground as well as she did as I thought she wanted good to firm. She'll go to Galway for a handicap next.
Cheltenham hero scores at Killarney
he took time to get into stride and while he was ring-rusty, he won snug enough in the end. I rang Robbie McNamara (who partnered Silver Concorde to win at Cheltenham) about him last night and he told me that he'd travel well but that his response mightn't be as quick as you'd think and he was right. He'll improve loads for that and the race should leave him spot on for Galway.
Responsibly Enjoys himself at Killarney
Minion springs another shock
He's after getting a nick on his hind leg but I think it's only superficial and if he's ok he'll go to for the Galway Blazers chase next,.
Neville eyes Galway Plate for Portrait
.She's a very good mare and we're lucky to have her and hopefully she'll get into the bottom (of the weights) of the Galway Plate,.
