The Dermot Weld trained Silver Concorde gained a second win since his famous Cheltenham Bumper success in 2014 when landing the Celtic Steps At Killarney Racecourse (QR) Race at Killarney today, under jockey Finny Maguire.
The seven runner race developed into a spring in the home straight and while not receiving the easiest of routes through the race, Silver Concorde did eventually get to the front inside the final furlong before staying on for a half length win over Spacious Sky
Weld was absent but Maguire, son of racing legend Adrian Maguire, later stated "he took time to get into stride and while he was ring-rusty, he won snug enough in the end.
"I rang Robbie McNamara (who partnered Silver Concorde to win at Cheltenham) about him last night and he told me that he'd travel well but that his response mightn't be as quick as you'd think and he was right.
"He'll improve loads for that and the race should leave him spot on for Galway."
