The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Red Riding Hood, ridden by R.L. Moore, placed first, and Shamwari (USA), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed third, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R. L. Moore stated that his mount was green throughout and was pulling up in front when she dived right for the gate. D. P. McDonagh stated that he suffered interference and felt it may have cost him second. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Red Riding Hood had caused interference to Shamwari she did not improve her finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that R. L. Moore had taken all reasonable steps to prevent the interference from occurring and they therefore took no further action. Mr. P. N
Reynolds recused himself from this enquiry. Mr. N. Chance attended this enquiry in an observatory capacity
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Shamwari (USA), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump.
