The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. W. Fleming, that B.M. Coen, rider of Moll, presented himself at scales at 2lbs overweight when weighing out having failed to apply Rule 195(i) at the time of declaration. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was satisfied that he would weigh out correctly as the weight was regularly achieved by him but today he was unable to shed any weight prior to racing

He added that he was satisfied that he did not require the facility allowed under Rule 195 (i) to declare a probable 2lbs overweight. Evidence was also heard from M.A. Cahill, trainer of Moll. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that B.M. Coen was in breach of Rule 195 (i) and Rule 198 (vii)(a). Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards fined B.M. Coen €150 for a first offence. Furthermore the Stewards allowed B.M. Coen to ride Moll following the request of the trainer.
