Bowe's well-bred mare looks smart with Western Victory
I rode her a good while back on heavy ground and it was her first run over hurdles. She is a hardy mare and isn't too bad,. She won her point to point from the front and did the same today. She was very fit and it rode a good race. She would be better going the other way as she hung the whole way with me but she is a good mare.
Kennedy more than happy with Blow's chase debut
Flanagan completes Galway double as Permis wins on debut for Meade
he was doing everything right at home and we were very happy coming with him. I actually had him in a hurdle race today but Eddie said 'no, no, no - he's a better horse over fences' and he jumped brilliantly today. He won a good novice for Mouse (Morris) last year but just went downhill on him after that; it can happen and could happen us too but he was good today. It wasn't the greatest race in the world and I'd imagine his next run will probably be in the Troytown Chase but we'll see what the handicapper does to him.
Tom very Well backed and delivers for King and Holden
He had a wind problem and stopped one day in Gowran on very heavy ground but we did the wind and since then he has improved with every run. He is staying on now but when he ran in point to points, his wind was getting to him at the end of his races. I was expecting a good run but I don't know where the money came for him - I had E50 on him myself and 10/1 was the best I could get!. He has a rating over hurdles but chasing is his game and he'll stay chasing. I pay very little for my horses and this fellow cost E1,200 as a four year old. It was the same with Capture The Drama (winner of a point to point and eight races) who cost E1,800 and Change The Rules (winner of a point to point and three races) E1,200. All three were bought as four year olds - they are there for small money if you can find them.
O'Regan bridges 11 year gap between winners for Willie
I know he was disappointing the last day but he put it right today. He jumped well and is still learning and could be on an upward curve. He won nicely on soft ground at Listowel and maybe it was a bit soon for him at Tipperary after Listowel but he has come back here on a nice galloping track and has put it right; winning will bring him on confidence-wise. It's good for the owners and good for me to ride a winner for Willie and Ruby (Walsh) and Paul (Townend) were a great help. I rode a winner for Willie but it's been so long now that I can't remember it!
