Art of Payroll another for Cooper
Coolmill and Holly dominate from the front
He's a good jumper and the longer distance suited him as he stays well.
Four Wives scores for Fahey & Sexton
she (Four Wives) does everything very well at home but has been a little disappointing on the track but we changed everything with her today, made the running and it worked out grand. She'll stay hurdling this season and is a half-sister to Mariah Rollins and will now make a nice mare for Gerry (O'Dowd, owner and breeder and from Roscommon) to breed from. Gerry missed the meeting as he is just back from a foreign business trip and saw the race in Athlone.
Codd lands his biggest training success
It's a fantastic pot! My horses weren't right for about a year until six or eight weeks ago, but they are now firing. He rides like a three miler, but he's a half brother to Bacchanal who was a staying hurdler. He's better over two miles. He'll get an entry for Wexford next Sunday, but he's ground dependant so we'll see what the ground is like. It's my biggest win. It's unfortunate for Ben, but I'm delighted for Mikey. He's had a great start to his professional career.
Fahey Stars with Cork double
I'm delighted he won but he had to work hard for it and I thought he'd have won easier. We always knew he was better going left-handed and Andrew (Leigh) said he was hanging and not jumping or travelling as well as he usually does.
Coakley back in the winners' enclosure
The family is over and that's my first winner since Champion Gold in 2005 [Thurles, November 10, 2005]. Gerry and Brendan Reilly are from Milltown, Co Kerry and are part of the winning syndicate. Alpha And Omega shows great ability, but he's very hard on himself. He'll go for something quickly while the ground is in his favour.
