Sam storms clear in the Navan mud
Really happy with him. He loved the ground and he (Adrian) had loads of horse at the finish. I'm very pleased. We'll wait for Fairyhouse for the festival. If the ground is soft he'll go there.
Cheeky Carberry tames the Beest
He worked last Tuesday with the horse that won yesterday (Heck Thomas)and I was thinking that either the other horse worked badly or he worked exceptionally well. He's a chaser for next year. He's a big horse by Oscar and could make a nice one. He didn't seem to fire last time at Leopardstown. He handles that soft ground and jumps great. We'll try and win another one but chasing is his game. He hasn't done much wrong and wants further. Today you'd have to get two-and-a-half to win over two miles.
Victory is finally Mine for Now
He deserves it more than anything. He's been running great and in some good handicaps like at Leopardstown. We were delighted with his last run and David gave him a great ride today. He won a point-to-point for Aidan Fitzgerald and he sent the owner on to me so I have to thank him. He'll stay tipping away in handicaps and I think he's qualified for the three-mile novice handicap at Fairyhouse. That's a step up in trip but it looked today like that would be no bother.
Azorian back on track with chase win
It's nice to have him back on a winning track. He's been a bit frustrating after showing a lot of promise early on. He's had breathing problems and has had a lot of operations. He had one before Christmas and that seemed to work. He had a nice first run back at Clonmel and that left him spot on for this. I know it wasn't the best race but it's nice to have him back on track. He hasn't many miles on the clock and will handle better ground. We mightn't pull up at the end of the season and he could keep going during the summer as long as the ground isn't quick.
No Secrets turns back the clock for Martin
I have a few nice horses for Malcolm Denmark. He has a lot of interest in Ireland and has bought a few nice horses. I've known Malcolm for a long time, since the days of Monsignor. He offered me a job at that time and we've been good friends since. We're looking for another Monsignor!. I'm very pleased. He's done it well and hopefully can carry on from here. We've had him since Christmas and he's been around a few places to try and get a feel of him. He was fit enough and we were giving him a sporting chance although we were very wary of Glenquest.
The Parishioner upsets the odds
He surprised me as I didn't think he'd handle the ground and he hadn't been running well. A lot of mine weren't running well and apart from Carlingford Lough I haven't had a winner since September. He'll run on until the ground gets hard.
