The Stewards interviewed D.J. Mullins, rider of Bishops Road, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.(3)(e), in that he had used his whip other than down the shoulder or the hind quarters and having considered his record, cautioned him.

An extended handicap steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards (135 = 11st 10lb)
Weights - Top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 11st 10lb
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each steeplechase won Any horse rated above 135 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 135 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any five year old rated above 135 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap) The winning owner will also receive a trophy of no intrinsic value
