The Stewards received a report from Mr. A. Tyrell, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, that Ligeti (Ire), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, appeared on the passport as a colt despite being gelded. Having considered the report, the Stewards fined the the trainer ?130 under the provisions of Rule 148(vi). The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Pacodali, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed first, Rainfall Radar (USA), ridden by C. O'Donoghue, placed third and Tipstaff (GB), ridden by K.J. Manning, placed second, where it appeared Tipstaff(GB) ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges's placings. They did, however, advise W.J. Lee to ride with more care in the future
