He had his palate cauterized since his run the last day and I was hoping he'd be fit enough as there aren't any winners' bumpers for a while. He should make a very nice hurdler and will race during the summer. He seems to be improving and is getting 'toe' now. E J O'Grady, trainer

The Stewards enquired into possible interference on the final bend involving Prickly, ridden by Mr K.E. Power, winner, Black Warrior, ridden by Mr J.C. Barry, placed third and Palm Sur, ridden by Mr S. Clements, placed second, where it appeared Black Warrior ran short of room and was forced to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings, attributed the interference to general bunching and took no further action.

An I.N.H. flat race for five, six and seven yrs old that have not won a *race other than one I.N.H. flat race or National Hunt flat race
Weights - 11st 7lb; Mares allowed 7lb
Penalties - Winner of an I.N.H. flat race or a National Hunt flat race 7lb extra
Riders - Qualified under I.N.H.S. Rules. Professional under I.N.H.S. Rules (other than Apprentices) who have not lost the right to claim the 7lb allowance under Rule 52 (iii) (up to and including 13th May) may also ride in this race.
