Ryder trains first winner
Steven has a restricted licence at the moment but he's done the course for a full trainers licence, and is planning to take that out in the new year. This horse has been running well against older horses and we felt he'd a good chance today against his own age group.
Fitz a Rebel on the up
We were very happy with him coming here today. The rain came which suited. We gave him a few bits of work over with Adrian Maguire during the week and Adrian rode him himself. He said you could ride this horse anywhere. He is a very talented horse . he is a great jumper and he'll definitely stay further. He could go next for a Grade 3 novice hurdle over three miles here next month. It's tempting as it's a good pot or another option is a two and a half mile race at Thurles. He'll go chasing next year.
Treacy times it to perfection
King rules in Cork
He did it well and the first time blinkers helped him to concentrate as he idled a bit last time at Gowran. I knew he'd come on a bit from the run at Gowran. We'll try to find something for him at Cheltenham next month as the lads (B A Syndicate from Piltown and Mooncoin) are keen to go.
Dev upsets Lieutenant in a thriller
The owner Donal Mac A'Bhaird is from Glanmire and it's great to have a winner at his local track. It's a shame that Paul Townend, who normally rides him, couldn't be on today but he had to go to Naas. Ruby felt he got there a bit too soon and to be honest I thought we were beaten. He could came back here in three weeks for another novice race but that was his Gold Cup today and I'm delighted.
Quirky Moment comes good
I thought Mick would get along with him her as he's mad and she's mad! She's very quirky and is one of those horses that you just have to see on the day how she is. We've always thought she was a filly with alot of ability.
Ballysteen makes his experience count
He won a point-to-point and he likes a bit of nice ground. He'll probably go hurdling now. He's been working well and my horses have turned a corner.
