Silver provides Meehan with first double
It was great to win for the lads who are all local lads in Rathkeale and the plan was always here, if possible. She has been running consistently and I have to say Chris gave her an absolutely fantastic ride. He did exactly as he was told and I thought he was particularly good on her - hats off to him. I didn't even know what he looked like, but Gordon (Elliott, Meehan's employer) told me he was good and I was looking for a 7lbs claimer as once the ground went heavy I was anxious to claim off her. She stays well and will be entered for here on Saturday - it's a 0-102 over the same distance.
Miss makes all under Mullins for McGrath
There is a rated novice chase for her next at Tipperary early next month so hopefully she'll go there and then on to Clonmel in November for a Graded mares' chase. We'll tip away in mares' company as much as we can but there aren't many mares' races coming up until the Clonmel race. She is reasonably ground versatile but won't run in the extreme grounds of winter. Hopefully we'll continue to have more fun with her. She is lovely mare and she is bred to stay being a grand daughter of Miss Orchestra (Uttoxeter Midlands National winner).
Kylecrue does it again in Listowel feature
He'll take some beating on Wednesday (Kerry National) if he gets in! He was first reserve and didn't get in last year but could get balloted out again this year but hopefully not. If he doesn't get in, he'll run in the Southampton Goodwill Chase later in the week and will then run in the Munster National at Limerick. He loves that heavy ground. He has E230,000 in prizemoney won now and is a great bit of stuff; he has run four times over fences here and has never been beaten.
Wood wins by thirty-one lengths on debut
He is a lovely looking horse and I'm not sure if he'll go for a winners' bumper as he could go hurdling. He's a good stayer and will get 2m 4f and further as well, but 2m 4f will be far enough for him for now. It wasn't a vintage bumper by any means but we were hopeful of a good run and he should have a future now. He did it quite well and jumps great.
