Mulcahy gets first winner on Butler
This was great for the owners and for the jockey, as it was his first winner and it's John and Geraldine O'Mahony's first winner with me,. To be fair they persevered with this horse when others would have given up. Shane does all the hard work with him at home and he's a very hard worked so I'm delighted to give him his first winner. He's threatened to do that during the winter on heavy ground and he's never had kind ground like this on any of his starts. He fell in a beginners chase the last day at Wexford against better horses and we were just hoping that didn't dent his confidence so we brought him back to a hurdle. All credit to Shane and to John and Geraldine for keeping him in training when they could have pulled the pin.
Fox back in business on Policy
Gavin is after having five seconds as well so it was brilliant to get one on the board here for the two of us. Given how good he is to me it's great to pay him back with a winner. There was a little bump just before the line but it didn't make any difference in the finish. My lad was lugging in a bit. He was a little bit lonely but the minute the horse came to him he went on again. He's a right little horse and that's his tenth win now. We'll have a bit of fun with him in Galway hopefully. He had a good look the whole way around and probably would have loved a bit of company but nothing really came to me and he just had to go and do the job himself. Hopefully the monkey is off my back. I couldn't believe it the way he fought back, he just idled in front. Hopefully everything goes okay in the stewards room. He's brilliant and so genuine, that was his 80th run today. He's after winning ten and he's been placed a load of times. He's had two wind operations and has had his issues but he's overcome them. Galway is a possibility. We'll see how he comes out of this and target something then. I'm coming here as long as I can remember, since about five or six, and it's great to get a winner here.

Gold picks up pieces as Dinons crashes out
He sticking at it up the straight and I thought if the leader might miss the last I was staying at it, I was fortunate enough he came down but you never like to see that happening. Up to the line he was very lairy and I thought he had plenty left. He's a horse that took the few runs over hurdles, he was very backward and green. He's really getting the hang of jumping now and he stayed going today which is probably because of fitness after the couple of runs. Anything less than three miles and you'd have to ride him more positively. I'd say there might be a bit of improvement in him, he's a horse that doesn't show much at home. It was his third run over hurdles. He had a run behind Le Richebourg in Killarney in a very hot maiden hurdle over two miles. It was way too sharp for him and I thought he ran well that day. Paul thought he'd come on a lot from his break the next day. He was right and thankfully Paul was on the other one today!
Cromwell doubles up with Heels
Happy days. The monkey is off my back anyway!. I thought I was going to be second again with Le Braye but the mare sprouted wings. She never jumped a fence the last day in Wexford. She missed one early on, got crowded and lost her confidence. I will go back over fences with her, I'm not saying it'll be the next time, but I definitely will. I'll just put a line through that. She's well handicapped over fences but she just got no daylight that day. Before I got her she ran in 33 point-to-points and won a few. I bought her for two-and-a-half grand. She won the first day and she's been second since.
Double for Denis Hogan and first winner for Jack Hogan
