Amor Verdadero makes the breakthrough
She's a grand honest mare and was entitled to do that,. She's probably one that we could bring to the north of England and try and win a novice hurdle with. It's the first horse that the owner has had with us and they are having a bit of fun so it's great. She's been knocking on the door a few days so she deserved to win.
Gallagher back in winners enclosure with Angel
I train in Conna, right beside Jimmy Mangan and Liam Burke. I use their gallops so I'd like to thank them,. The last winner I had on the track was for the same owners, Backinthere. The Sheehans are a great family to me, they are builders from Ballyduff, and only for them I'd be nearly retired. I mostly break horses but this year I had a handful to run. I had a point-to-point winner that made £155,000. She's consistent, she's been running in good races and hasn't been beaten too far. The last day was a great run in Clonmel. I said coming up 'was I coming to the wrong place' because she ran well in Clonmel. Darragh is a good claimer and he's not far away from me at home. She's in at Roscommon on Tuesday but I don't know about that. She might go to our local track at Mallow on Friday night. We are waiting for this for a long time and we might celebrate!
Room To Roam gets his turn
I'm delighted for him and for the owners,. We bought him out of the horses in training sale and on his first run he was second to Mr Adjudicator at Leopardstown. We started dreaming about him. He had a few good runs in his first season and then lost his way. He suffered a bad injury here last year, he got a very bad cut, and he lost confidence and everything. He seems to be coming back right. It wasn't the strongest of maiden hurdles. He'll tip away and we'll find something for him. I think a fast run two miles suits him because he can get passing horses. In fairness to Kevin, we were trying to stretch him out in trip before to get him to enjoy it, but when he rode him first time he said to shorten him back up. It's worked today and fingers crossed he goes on. Kevin is riding great. He's knuckled down, he's tipping away and doing everything grand. He has struck up a great partnership with Peregrine Run. He is a good rider and I don't think anyone could knock him about his riding. I think that was his 100th yesterday on Peregrine Run. He's in the yard every morning and he deserves the opportunities he's getting at the moment.
1, 2 for Cromwell as Dynasty takes Bellewstown feature
That's brilliant. He was a classy horse on the Flat, his wind is not the best and he wants nice ground,. When things went his way I knew there was a good race in him. The mare (Ejayteekay) ran a cracker. She might have been in front a fraction too soon, and missed the last, but she ran a blinder. It's unfortunate for them to bump into each other but with a prize like that you'd have to run them.
Macgiloney prevails in thriller
That was brilliant. He was gutsy and loved the battle,. When I entered him I wasn't sure was I going to be able to run with the ratings but if you don't run them you don't win anything. I don't think the handicapper can react too much because I went through the form of the others and their ratings had maybe been got through good placing by Gordon. I didn't think in a handicap that they would have run to marks in the 130s. I'm thrilled with this lad. He's always had a big future and he's still improving all the time. Chasing will be the job long term. He's owned by some good guys, Michael Moloney, Pat Gilmartin and John Gilmartin. They've been with me a long time. He won a bumper here last year and he's been placed a lot of times. They've got some great days out of him. He'll go to Galway now, whether he runs in the three-mile handicap or the two-and-a-half novice. Killarney might come a bit soon. He's a nice horse to have going forward. He wants all of that three miles. We didn't go mad there so I had to get involved a bit sooner than ideal but it worked out well.
Mac N Cheese another for red-hot Cromwell
That's brilliant and I'm delighted for Brien as it's his birthday as well. What can I say they are just running well. It's worked out great with this horse as he was cheap buy. He has won over fences and is after winning there now. He will probably go for the Galway Blazers now.
Bentham rounds off remarkable week for Cromwell
It's been a brilliant week. I don't think I'll better this,. I've always liked this horse and I thought he'd win a bumper first time out. I ran him on soft that was too soft and then he missed the break in Ballinrobe. In Punchestown he had gone over the top and the ground went too soft as well. I made a bit of a mess of him but I think he's a good horse and I'm delighted he's won. He turned in and gave him a chance to fill up. I'm happy with that. I don't know what the plan is now. Those are my wife's colours and hopefully he might be in different colours next time.
