Magic Tricks impresses in Navan
He’s a nice horse. I couldn’t believe he got beat in a bumper first time out but he does everything very easy at home and he might not have been fit enough and he was a bit green. I thought that was a good performance and on soft ground you would have to like what he did. He stays well and the way he galloped from the last to the line you would have to like him.
Legacy Thor dominates from the front
It was out of the blue the last day [when he whipped around at the start in Fairyhouse and refused to race] and we thought it might be a bit soft for him today. After what happened last week we wanted to get him out as quick as possible to try and put a line through that. There was a bit of delay at the start at Fairyhouse and he got a bit flustered by the whole thing. He gives you everything he has. His jumping held together well today and he got a bit of peace in front. Across the bottom I was trying to get a breather into him and when I turned in I had a lot of horse and no real competition.
Elliott doubles up with Clondaw Secret
He’s a nice big, raw horse. I was toying with running him in the bumper today but I said I’d split them up. Jumping is probably his game. It’s great for Noel and Valerie Moran. They are the big sponsors today and are local people. It’s their first winner at Navan racecourse. I thought Jack (Kennedy) was very good on him. He let them all race away and had a go going to the last. If he got involved two out he would probably have got tired. There is only one winning post. He’s still very green. He might not be a graded horse and is probably more of a chaser.
Flooring Porter runs them ragged
It wasn’t the plan to make the running. He has his own ideas about things and can force his way to the front. In fairness he relaxed lovely when he got there and jumped away brilliant. He got a freebie, got to fill him up everywhere and was able to do his own thing from the front. He won too far from a handicapping point of view but it’s great to win a pot like that. He’s definitely better going left-handed as well. The handicapper is going to have his say now. I don’t know where he’ll go from here but considering he only cost five grand he’s more than paid for himself!. He will go chasing but probably not until next year.
Elliott fires in Navan treble with Conflated
He’s not a bad horse and ran well in a few graded races last year. He has to go left-handed. He ran well behind Asterion Forlonge at Punchestown when you look at how much ground he gave away by jumping left.
Andy Dufresne brings up Elliott's quad
He knew he had a race from the last home and I’d say he wants two and a half miles. Christmas may come a bit soon for him and he could be one for something like (the Grade One at) Fairyhouse over two and a half miles.
Crossed My Mind lifts good pot for Moore
He had a lovely weight. He came on a bit from Thurles and I thought the extra couple of furlongs and a bigger track would suit. He’s always been a nice horse but had niggly problems all the way through his career. It’s the first time that I’ve had a good run with him, and it’s nice to get a good pot with him again. He’s still a novice for the season which could come in handy later on for something like a novice handicap. The Leopardstown Chase over 2m5f could also be a race for him.
Kilcruit different class in bumper
My grandmother bred him which is great and I’m sure she will be watching on. It’s a pity that she can’t be here. I rode him work for Tony before he ran in Clonmel and he ran a cracker that day. He’s improved an awful lot since. He’s a very light horse and doesn’t need a lot of work to get fit and maybe that is why he won today. I think he has a lot of ability.
