Permission was given for Amazonian Dream (IRE) to be mounted in the chute, go early to post and to wear a red hood to the start, for Buccabay (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and for Chief Mankato (GB) to wear a red hood to post The raceday privilege request for Juan Les Pins (GB), trained by Michael Appleby, to go early to post and to wear a red hood to post was late being submitted.
Appleby was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm on the day before racing.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after two incidents of interference inside the final furlong involving Chief Mankato (GB), placed second, ridden by Edward Greatrex, King's Lynn (GB), dead- heated for third, ridden by William Carver, the winner, We Never Stop (IRE), ridden by Shane Gray and Rousing Encore (IRE), who dead-heated for third, ridden by James Sullivan.
In the first incident which involved We Never Stop (IRE) and ROUSING ENCOURE (IRE), the Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of We Never Stop (IRE) as although ROUSING ENCOURE (IRE) received a bump, it appeared to lose little momentum as a result, to be beaten a nose and a head at the line.
The interference was found to be accidental as We Never Stop (IRE) shifted slightly right- handed before being quickly corrected.
In the second incident, involving Chief Mankato (GB), KING’S LYNN and We Never Stop (IRE), the Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Chief Mankato (GB) in relation to KING’S LYNN.
Whilst the Stewards noted that KING’S LYNN was moved off its line leading to it becoming crowded for room in the final strides, KING’S LYNN always appeared to be held to be beaten a head by that horse.
Greatrex was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, moving and bumping KING’S LYNN, which in turn caused it to make contact with the winner, We Never Stop (IRE), who had its quarters turned and became unbalanced.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, We Never Stop (IRE), compared with its previous run at York on 21 August 2024 where the gelding finished last of the twenty-two runners, beaten by 12 lengths was considered.
The representative of Kevin Ryan explained that We Never Stop (IRE) had benefited from the application of first-time blinkers on this occasion in addition to appreciating the surface on this, its all-weather debut.
Their explanation was noted, and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Alistair Rawlinson reported that Juan Les Pins (GB), unplaced, suffered interference as a result of Navello (GB) suffering an injury and pulling up in front of that runner.
