Corps Des Pages justifies favouritism in Limerick opener
I ran him over a mile the first day and was dropping in trip today, and being by Frankel, seven (furlongs) is probably his minimum. I thought he had a nice first run and it is great to come here today and build on that and win. Billy (Lee) says it is good ground, and good to firm in spots, and I think he is happy on that ground. The plan was to win a maiden and progress and he looks a very progressive horse. Mr Stewart his owner, bred him and we'll have a think about it and see where we go. I hadn't thought past today.
Flagged makes all for Lyons and Keane
We were worried about the good to firm this morning but they aerated the track and got the moisture back on top to get the firm out of it. It's plenty safe ground so between clerk of the course Val O'Connell and the Limerick team, they got it right. She wouldn't want it any quicker and will get further, she had to do it the hard way today. She's still green, her head was looking around, but it's only her second run. We like her and it's a bonus to get the maiden win out of the way - we'll build our season on that. She should progress and improve buckets for the run.
Dedillon follows up Dundalk maiden win
It took her 20 runs to win one and now she has two won. I actually thought the handicapper was too hard on her but she did it well and it was a very good ride as he was able to get the fractions right on her. We'll look to run her in a fillies' handicap from a low weight next. She is belonging to a local man Sean Rushe from Patrickswell. He actually had open heart surgery a week before she won the last day and that will cheer him up.
Slatterys repeat front-running tactics for 233/1 double
I thought this was my best chance today but then the ground dried out - she wants a dig in the ground being by Pivotal. When Andrew was at Weld's he liked her so we bought her for 12,000 at a mares' sale. She is a maiden winner now by Pivotal so has a bit of value. She has the real good Moyglare pedigree in the second dam, all the good fillies are there. The way she was working at home we thought she was a Premier Handicap filly on soft ground and he said she blew up there, so she should improve.
