Ralph Beckett had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Junius Brutus (FR) partially shod, Richard Hannon had also obtained prior permission from the BHA to run Magical Wish (IRE) partially shod.
VICTORY DAY (IRE) wore ear plugs which were removed at the start.
The Starter reported Kinks (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Mick Channon was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
As it was the second occasion within the previous 12 months that Kinks (GB) had been reported, a further report within the same period would mean the gelding would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.
The Starter also reported that JACK’S POINT was the subject of a third criteria failure.
William Muir was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

Upon leaving the stalls, Woven (GB), placed third, jumped awkwardly and shifted right handed, bumping Barbill (IRE), placed sixth, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Woven (GB).
Inside the final furlong marker, Gerald Mosse, the rider of JACK’S POINT, placed fifth, struck Woven (GB), placed third, once over the nose with the whip but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was considered to be accidental.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Kinks (GB), placed fourth, lost his left fore shoe.
