Geraghty picks up winning spare on Island
He was unlucky when running a good race the last day in Down Royal and he fell. We said we'd take a chance because the beginners are going to get hotter now in the next few weeks. We'll probably look at a little handicap. He probably wouldn't be good enough for a graded race so we might even find a little winners race. We might even go to England with this fellow. The horses are running well so we'll keep them running. It's unbelievable - that's our 97th winner in Ireland. To have nearly 100 winners by November is great. Things are flying so it's hard to complain.
Quick double for Geraghty as Irish prevails
He did it well. He's definitely a better hurdler than a chaser. He's typical of a horse off the Flat as he jumps adequately without jumping with great zest. Barry gave him a super ride and coaxed him around. The fences look big and solid, there have been plenty of fallers. He was probably the best horse in the race if things fell right for him. He loves that nice ground. It's good for him to mix it over hurdles and fences and it keeps changing his mind.
O'Grady & Townend on the mark with Awake
I suppose, because of the ground, the jumpers are a little bit behind and I was concerned he might not be fit enough to win. He had a good blow and hopefully he'll go on from there. I thought he was a pretty high class horse as a bumper horse but the problem was he was too keen for his own good. Paul said he's gone a little bit the other way and switched off. That's maybe the key to him, that he's reserving a bit of energy for the correct part of the race.
Geraghty completes first Irish four-timer
He's a nice horse. He doesn't show much at home and is a big slow galloping horse. He's the type of horse you'd like and should make a right chaser next year. I'd say he could step up in trip and he'd love a bit of softer ground as well.
Robin prevails under Enright for Halley
He ran well in Clonmel the last day. Phillip said the ground is the key to him. With the forecast he'll probably be left off after this week. Off his mark I'd like to think there is another hurdle in him. He's really a summer horse.
Theo gets the better of Neddy in the last
He has been a little bit frustrating and had a few issues but seems to have got the better of them. He's a grand little horse at that level and will probably jump a fence. He's very honest and genuine. We'll probably stay hurdling with him for a while as he's only six. He doesn't take a whole lot of racing. I'm delighted to get it. Today was important as we had a few pound on him.
