Carroll still red-hot in Gowran Park sunshine
That's as quick as she wants it and she's still as green as grass. We'll see how the handicapper treats her. I don't know whether she's streetwise enough for a fillies handicap, but that's where we'll have to go. As always with these fillies you start thinking of black-type but she's a long way from that, as are most of them at home at the minute but they are starting to turn a corner or we are starting to place them where they need to be. Gary is riding out of his skin. At this track you used to be able to ride a race but for the past few years if you get on the pace, even with a 50/1 shot, you can't get beat. I hope that's not the case because I love this track and hate seeing a bias like that. I genuinely thought, not that we could have any confidence with the way my horses are running, that unless there was a star in it she would win.
Stone-Walsh earns plaudits from O'Brien
He had a lovely run in Cork the last day (fourth) and got back on a bit of nice ground today,. said O'Brien. He quickened up well. He could go to Ascot for a handicap (Buckingham Palace Stakes) or to the Curragh on Derby weekend. Conor is riding very well and is a big asset to us. . He had experience pony racing and from the first time he came to us it was very obvious he was a good rider. People are copping on to it now and he's getting plenty of rides which he deserves.
Barnhill battles to land apprentice race
She's very consistent, always runs her race but doesn't always get her head in front,. After the last day in Roscommon she deserved that. Siobhan was brilliant on her, the two of them went hard but she judged it perfectly. She let them go, didn't panic, and picked them up when it was time to do so. It's unfortunate for Sean, who is our apprentice. He had the choice to ride this one but rode for his uncle, he was loyal to the family and he'll get another day. I'm delighted for Pat Kelly and his family, he picked up her up cheap in Doncaster a couple of years ago and she's paying her way for him. She is what she is but she always runs her race and can hopefully pick up something similar before the season is over.
Knight To King a must for the notebook
He's a really nice colt, he had been working exceptionally well. All the family take a little bit of time and we're in no hurry with him,. He's come forward in the last few weeks. He's a very good-actioned horse, so I didn't bother with him in the spring on heavy ground. Please God, we've lots to look forward to. It's a great family for us and he's always shown us talent. He was very immature, mentally and physically but he's coming forward nicely. I'll have a chat with Maurice Regan and we'll decide where we go with him. I won't make any decision until I see how he comes home and comes out of the race. Obviously, we'll go into stakes level with him now, there are many ideas in my mind. He's very straightforward and I said if there was no pace to make the running on him. The one thing we didn't want was a messy race with no pace. He was out there in front, he has a lot to learn. I think he jumped the road and Chris said he looked at everything. He'll learn a lot today and he's a real good colt in the making. He quickened up the Old Vic the other day like a horse that would be very effective, even, over six furlongs.
Session gains deserved win
He's a fine horse and he handles that fast ground well,. His Curragh run wasn't as good as his first run (at Leopardstown) and it's good to see him back on song.
Plenty of bets brought up on returning Getawiggleon
She was in foal but lost the foal, so I said we'd get her back as I felt there was a bit more in her as she finished up not in the best of form. She's filled out a bit more with time, hopefully the handicapper won't go nuts and we might pick up another one along the way. I said to Seamie if his teeth were rattling in his head the ground is just about right for her!. If it's any softer than that she just doesn't cope with it. Hopefully we have a bit of a handle on her now and she can pick up some more races. She was ready to run a month ago, but the ground was not there. She had been working well, so we were confident she wouldn't embarrass us. She lost her foal over six months ago and as you can see she's a light-framed filly, so there weren't layers of fat to be shifted off her. She'd been to the Old Vic a few times and we were happy coming to this level today. If the ground holds right, depending on what the handicapper does, I think there is a fillies' nine-furlong handicap for her in Leopardstown on Thursday week.
Booyea enjoys his first venture into handicap company
The horses are going well and the yard is in form. After the filly won the other day (Drop The Drip) we were hoping this fella would run well,.
