Zero Fighter gets the verdict for Meade
I thought he was beat but he was coming home and the lad on the outside always has the advantage here,. He is what he is, obviously he's better over a mile the way he stayed on there. He belongs to a bunch of trainers, Gordon (Elliott), Denis Murphy, Colin Bowe, Noel Meade, Joey Logan and Peter Nolan. That's who the (DCJGPN) syndicate is. We have five and that's the first one that's won, they were supposed to be gone as two-year-olds!. If he's not claimed we'll go for a handicap. We went too far with him last time and he's still unexposed.
Meade doubles up with Port Louis
I thought he'd win so that was great,. Colin likes him and said he'll go another furlong. He's always shown us plenty and he had a good run at the Curragh the last day over six, which was a bit too short for him. We thought seven would suit him. He only cost six grand so he was getting in here with a low weight. I suppose we'll have to think about the sales race, the seven-furlong race in Naas at the end of the season. I think there is a winner's race here and he might come back for that. Unfortunately, Jimmy Kernohan, who is from Randalstown, is not here as his wife wasn't that well. He's one of our long-time owners and has been with me an awful long time. I think that's his first Flat horse, we wheeled him out in the middle of a bunch and he said 'I want him!'
Swiss Army Officer another for Stone-Walsh
I'm delighted. We retired him at the end of last year and I got him back for the two South African guys to ride but today was an apprentice race. I wanted to run him in Killarney, because he likes it, but he got in today,. Conor was unbelievable on him. We're down to a good mark, he's had loads of problems and if we can get him back after today well and good but it's every day with this lad. He's 17-1 and has a lot of problems. He's repaid me now because I kept him three years too long!
Blue Peak strikes for Grassick & Sheehy
She's just been slow to come and I think the penny is just dropping with her,. I liked her run in Cork, she was very unbalanced getting around and then she really came home strong, in another 50 yards she would have been placed. I like the way she finished out her race. I wanted to keep to a mile but when you are in this grade you are getting balloted out and it's so hard. They got a drop of rain here and she needs a little bit of juice in the ground. Hopefully there is another race or two in her. She's down low enough that she could stay in that bracket for another couple of runs. That's my first winner for William Keeling, who is Joe's son. It's important to get a winner for the family.
450/1 Roscommon treble for Noel Meade
Dylan (Browne McMonagle) rode him in Gowran last time, he took him back and he said he made a mistake that he should have let him roll along,. That was over a mile and I just started thinking that maybe we had got it all wrong with him. It was a super well-judged ride by Leigh. I thought he was a pretty decent horse. When we went to Listowel last year I thought he'd win and Dermot (Weld) won it with Tiverton and apparently Aidan (O'Brien) fancied the one he had in it (runner-up Boy Scout). Hopefully it's onwards and upwards now. He's by Australia but he's related to a good miler and that's what had sort of caught me out a bit with him. I'd say he'd even go a mile-and-a-half.
Halla Ban a game winner for Cleary
Western favourite backers fond of Whisky
Adam gave him a great ride. He did it very easy actually and probably got there too soon,. He's a nice horse and jumping will probably be the name of the game for him in time. He's going to go to the field in the morning, probably for ten days, and then we'll bring him back for the mile-and-a-half in Galway for three-year-olds. On softer ground you'll see a better horse again. I was very close to taking him out because I was a bit concerned about the ground this evening. He travelled very sweet today and he surprised me. I'm sure the jumps lads would like a horse like him and he could be sold now. He's had three quick runs and I was a bit concerned as he lost 15 kilo last week after Sligo and I was very worried. We had him back to a kilo below his weight today and we were delighted he'd put back on so much. He's tough.
Sequoiaspirit in fine fettle for Hackett & Sheridan
He's in good form, he just barely got away with the ground and wouldn't want it a lot quicker,. He was going as hard as he was able early on, they made it a good test and then started to die in front of him and he was able to get there. He'll probably going jumping hurdles now if the ground gets any quicker.
