Journey gets off the mark over flights
He won easy but it wasn't a great contest. He could go for a little handicap or maybe a flat race. He ran a good race here the last day and seems to like the track. He runs a bit free and Conor gave him a good ride - all went well. He kept a little bit in reserve. Fair play to him as he kept a bit up his sleeve.
Giant quickly follows-up on Wexford success
The reason I ran him again so quickly was because, as far as I could see, there is no other three mile novice until October!. I thought we may as well take our chance as he needs three miles. He'll probably be better over fences and chasing is more his game. I thought he was going to be very good after his first run when he was fourth in the bumper but he had two terrible runs afterwards. He was obviously just not a bumper horse. It was a competitive race today and he's done that well enough.
Rolling Revenge lands major gamble
It took a while to find a bad race for him but we found one! I've had him four years and his owner has been very patient. I'm not sure the track suited him, as he's a big long striding horse, but we got away with it. He couldn't handle winter ground so we said we'd see if he was any better on this type of ground. He was second in a point-to-point so I thought the trip was no problem. I'll look for something similar and I think there is a race at Tipperary for him shortly.
Big win for O'Shea with Vinnie
That's brilliant. He's a very, very special horse to me as he was my first runner and has done so much for my career. He has a few problems and we swim him an awful lot. I have to thank Matty Tynan for the use of his pool. Rachael has been great and that's the fourth winner she's ridden for me this season. She gets on great with him as he's not the easiest spin. All credit to the auld horse. He's my star and I love him to bits. That's the biggest race I've won. The lads (Moon & Stars Syndicate) lost their dad (Padraig O'Donovan) a couple of months ago and he was a fantastic man for me as he got me started. He might go back on the flat and we'll look at Galway so long as the rain stays away. I was cringing yesterday with every drop of rain that fell.
Tiger now two from two over fences
That was good - he's been consistent. We'll look at the novice chase in Galway now. He's one of the favourites in the yard. He's had his problems but he's back rocking now.
Double for Blackmore as For Ever just prevails
The trip was on the short side for him but we took a chance as he was in good old form. Our big aim is Galway although he is still low in the handicap to get into something there. We'll probably look at the Blazers as he would have no chance getting into a Plate. He could possibly come back here for the Midlands National. We'll see how he is as he's had plenty of racing recently.
Poet completes clean sweep for favourites
He was schooling brilliantly but turned over here at the first, first time out. It was a good run in Sligo although he was a little free. He settled nicely for Katie today and had a lovely position. He won well at the end. We'll possibly look for a winners bumper and a maiden hurdle will be on the agenda before long. A couple of local lads own him (the DPOJ Partnership). They are from the Tullamore area and they're also involved with the stallion Urban Poet (stands in Gurteen Stud, Tullamore). He was sick for a while and wouldn't eat for a month. He had so many antibiotics that he had no good bacteria left in his stomach and the Equine centre were a great help.
