Coleman's filly in Command
It worked out well as the owner (Demi O'Byrne) is here today. She's threatened to do that. The last day she got tired in Navan. All her form last year has worked out. We fancied her first time out in Bellewstown and group horses came out of that race. Listowel was a good race as well. She's a big filly and she was weak last year. If she was in a handicap we would have had our house on her! There was no race for her so we chanced a maiden today and we weren't worried about her rating. We don't know her trip because she's so laid back, she could go up as well as down. She did look under a little bit of pressure there today but she is still kind of green for the amount of runs she's had. We'll see what Demi wants to do with her and we'll see what the handicapper does. We might stick at the handicap route now or she might even be sold.
Farrell & Bennett combine to land apprentice handicap
She burst the last day but we got her back. Neve was lucky as she got left at the start but she came down the inner and it worked out fine for her. That's her third winner and she's down to 7lb now. She's a decent filly and was well in really. It's been a bit frustrating this year as we just got held up a few times with ground and stuff but she's better than those. Seven is probably her trip. She wants good ground and might run out of time a little bit but we'll take this.
Sunshine gains deserved win
She has been running well but just not getting there,. Seamie said there was a little bit of an ease in the ground and I'd say that was a help. The race went very much according to plan, they went a good gallop, he was able to settle her and he got a lovely run up the inside. It all worked out great. We'll look for a Listed or Group 3 race as we want to get a bit of black-type for her. She's been knocking on the door and that will crown her. It looks like she might even be getting better despite a long season, she hasn't had it easy.
Thunderbear grinds out victory for Davison
He's a nice horse, he showed an awful lot of ability in the spring and it just took him a while to get it together for various reasons,. We finally got his trip right and the conditions, he just didn't enjoy the all-weather last week. He likes that nice ground and is a turf horse, he'll be a nice three-year-old. The visor is just for focus and you see there he dropped his head when he needed so he's a genuine horse. He's been dead reliable but it's all about getting the winning bracket, he did that today and we're delighted.
Beauty Crescent on an upward curve
That was lovely. Colin said he's improving, he's manly and he loved that. We've had to think outside the box with him, we put the blinkers on him and he ran free to post with him in the Curragh so they are walking him down now and looking after him. He said he's that relaxed and he loves that, all the trouble. He said he'll get further so the future is bright. It's all about Mr Kwok in Hong Kong and I can only imagine that is where he is going to end up.
Heffernan followers in clover
I'm delighted for the old horse, he's a real stalwart and everybody probably knows him in Irish racing. He's been unlucky in Dundalk and at Bellewstown and I'm delighted he's got off the mark for us. We needed that badly as we've been over 400 days since our last winner. We've had a number of seconds and we've had a bad run recently with horses getting injured. He's in on Friday night at Dundalk and we'll let him roll. The owner is local as well, Sean Gallagher, so that's great. Seamie has rode for us for years and I'm delighted to get a winner with him again.
Ryan shows Kuwait Direction the way home
He's a grand little horse. We just freshened him up and a smaller yard like ours probably worked a treat with him. I'm gutted for Rory Cleary (rode Princess Plumeria who finished last) who has rode work on him. He rode him the last twice and told me that he probably wanted a stiff six and something with a bend. The girlfriend Sarah rides work on him all the time and we've been riding him in behind. He's a different horse when we get him in front. Gavin said he was from a bad draw to try and get there but when he did get his head in front, even when the second horse came, nothing was going to get him.
