Downey in good Spirits following last-gasp maiden win
Never in doubt.
Mulvany's Early Call gains first win, at 18th attempt
we were a bit disappointed with that horse all year because if you had asked any of the lads in the yard early on in the year what horse they would have picked, they would have picked him. I thought he ran well in the Curragh last week when he needed the run. Whatever it was, his form kind of tailed off a little. He was second three times and we were starting to wonder was he genuine and that's why we stuck the cheekpieces on and it seems to have worked for him. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards but we don't know where we go now because he's a real five-furlong horse.

O'Brien brothers score with Colfer Me
I'm very, very happy with that! We were very confident coming up today, the distance and all suited him grand. I would be thinking definitely a mile (next year). Joseph (O'Brien) was very optimistic and we are hoping we might run him in Listowel on Monday once we see what way he gets home. He's a horse I bred and hopefully there is more to come. It was a good two and a half hour run up and we'll have a good spin going back!
Little Camacho scores for McCann & Slattery
she was tough, Camachos are a tough sort of a breed! . I always told Patrick (McCann, owner) there was a nice race in her and she got a bad draw in Dundalk the last day but she has improved; she was very green the last day. It's great to another one on the board this week. The horses are starting to click and I owe it to the staff and owners for the support they give the yard.
Two wins in a week for Cacique Royale
He won easily on Tuesday. He gave a blow so we were hoping that would happen but you never know. The ground is in great shape. Shane (Foley) gave him a lovely ride, the idea was to keep out of trouble. He doesn't have to front run. In fact you can see with his ears in front he is still quite green. A nice horse but still a work in progress. A big horse and we will give him a bit of a break now and we'll probably train him like a nice horse. He's a very straightforward horse but he just needed time to mature skeletally and mentally. There is more to come and whatever he is now you would expect he would be a better four-year-old. We'll just mind him and hopefully find another race in two or three weeks time and see what the handicapper has to say. He'd be a fine horse to go over hurdles so we have plenty of options.
Cool Coen bags Ulster Cesarewitch
that was some ride! It was hard to pick him out for his 7lbs (claim). He felt he was getting there and he said he (Waterville Dancer) fought hard to get there. You won't get up the inside in Down Royal and he had to come around them, there is no other way of doing it. He travelled much better today than he did in Galway in heavy ground and this makes up for Galway. He's entered in Listowel - he's in the Lartigue (Handicap) Hurdle and a 1m6f flat handicap. He might run in the flat handicap; the Lartigue is a big pot but it's only two miles and I'd say he needed two and a half miles over hurdles at this stage.
