Adams Barbour wins Dundalk's opener
he ran a good race against the better boys on Wednesday and came out of the race well, ate up and was in good form so when he was declared, we said we’d let him take his chance. Siobhan gave him a perfect ride; we didn’t want to go forward and empty him and she kept a hold of him early. He’s a horse that gives his all and hopefully he’ll keep improving. I think it’s three or four weeks until there is another five-furlong race. He does get the six if he’s dropped in and we’ll just see how he is.
Daintree scores for Up And At 'Em connections
I’ve trained for the Hugheses a long time and Up And At ‘Em won the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes at Ascot in 1992 for Emmanuel’s mother Annie. We’ve had a lot of success over the years for the family. She was a bit slowly away and I thought we were in trouble but fair play she stuck at it well. She might win another little one if the handicapper isn’t too hard on her.
Second success for Quiet Desire
we were expecting her to run well and a big thing with this girl is when she is due in season, as that’s a disaster for her. We need to keep a close eye on her cycle and she’d been working like she would run well. She pricked her ears a bit in the straight but just about had enough in hand. She had come back down to a nice mark and every pound counts in these handicaps. Robert rides well and doesn’t do much wrong. Peter (Cullen) is a very keen and enthusiastic owner and it’s great to have him here. He was roaring her all the way home.
Fifth course win for Everyhouronthehour
'Half-million' Moshammer wins for McAuley
I don’t think Shadwell gave him much of a chance as he didn’t know anything when he came to us. He was probably a bit of a boyo and we got him for three grand!. He was a clean page when we got him and it’s worked out well.
Murtagh registers '2-1' in Dundalk maiden
it was a bit of a surprise but they had been working together at home and we thought both of them would run well. I didn’t think she would win from where she was drawn (13) and first time out but Danny gave her a peach of a ride. He got a lovely run round and crept into it. He said she put her head down and battled really well. I think they are two nice fillies and they have been pleasing us in their work.
Liquid Luck gets off the mark
he might run again next week and he’ll be better over a trip. Joe Murphy (previous trainer) recommended him to us and I’m delighted he’s won.
