Dolce going the right way
She's a grand little filly and did it well. I thought this side (near side of the track) was quicker than the far side. She's a straight-forward filly and I might step her up now. She'll be a nice filly next year and I won't phase her this year. It's the first runner in Ireland for her owner/breeder Renzo Forni, who has had horses in Italy previously.
Monsieur wins as raiders dominate
27/1 Tipp double for McCreery and Lee
She is strengthening up the whole time and I'm delighted with that,. Like all sprinters she needs to get 'an arse' on her, and strengthen up, and the blinkers helped her concentrate. She's very honest but can be away with the fairies at times and is very laid-back for a sprinter.
Lyons and Keane again in Canford Cliffs
He had a real handy race at Galway last Saturday and while we had our hand forced (by the handicapper, upped 18Ibs), we still took a chance running today. It's nobody's fault but the ground is horrible, and like a gluepot after the dry weather recently. Colin (Keane) said he hated it and didn't want to get to the front too soon; he said that heart got him through. He's very honest but we decided to put blinkers on him as he didn't go through a gap at Roscommon (in July) but that was down to greeness. He wore them at Galway and for obvious reasons there was no way we were taking them off today.
Treble lightens McCreery's mood
She's a chestnut filly and got a bit lit up in the parade ring so I said to Billy not to be hard on her and just get her to settle,. She dropped her head in the race and is an honest little devil but the race did fall to her a bit. Billy gave her a lovely ride and in the end only hit her two flicks; he has won on three fillies tonight and is very quiet and easy on his horses. I've used him a lot this year and he doesn't murder or get 'thick' with them, and he'll also admit if he does give one a bad ride. That's my first treble. There'll be no celebration tonight though as I was raided last night and a load of saddles and bridles were taken out of the yard.
Another Gold for Apache
That's his fifth win and I thought he had a very good run at Limerick. However he wants a cut (in the ground) and didn't get it all summer,.
Bolger produces High Focus fit and well
Eagle takes limelight in Tipp finale
He was very fizzy last year and never settled, but hurdles have made a man of him and he learned to drop the bit,. I thought Thousand Stars, on National Hunt form, would beat us pretty comprehensively, but I suppose he is 11 now. He could go for another race or two on the Flat, but he needs juice and to get his toe in; we might have to hold fire as the weather forecast is good.
